Parks and Recreation: DCNR Clarification
For clarity, the Grantham Pond grant is through DCNR — not DCED — and the current project cost is approximately $275,000, not $400,000. It is also important to understand that DCNR does not typically favor delays in awarded grant funding, and failing to move forward with grant-supported work could impact the Township’s credibility and future grant opportunities. That matters because DCNR funding has helped improve parks across Upper Allen Township, especially projects connected to accessibility, including Winding Hills North and South and other parks with perimeter pathways.

A review of the 2013 Upper Allen Township Comprehensive Plan suggests the document should be used cautiously when discussing Bishop Bridge. Publicly available records indicate the plan references Gilbert Bridge, which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is described in search results from the plan as having been replaced circa 2007.
